So, FromSoftware did it again with Elden Ring Nightreign. Eight new “Nightlord” bosses. Yeah, eight. And after wrestling all of them — whew, let me tell you — these are some of the best bosses they’ve cooked up. But, there’s this one that just, I don’t know, hit differently for me. Libra, Creature of Night. Imagine a demon with a goat head, and you’re about halfway there. You find him at the end of the Equilibrious Beast Expedition. Sounds intense, right?
Anyway, so I walk into his turf expecting a fight, arrow ready and all. But nope. I shoot, and he just growls. Like, “Seriously? We could chat.” And oh, you can talk to him! Didn’t see that coming. You get this scale icon floating over him — kind of like a currency or trade thing. And the deals he offers? It’s wild. You could trade levels for some epic gear. Or, and this one is nuts, you get this deal where you gain levels but lose one every time you heal. I mean, who thinks of this?
So, everyone makes their call, and then — bam! — the fight’s on. He morphs into this massive beast and starts hurling magic at you. It’s kind of terrifying, honestly. The ground lights up with these golden glyphs, and you’re just trying to not melt your brain with Madness. It’s hectic, but if you stick close, you can dodge his staff swings easier.
Here’s the kicker: Libra’s also weak to Madness. You hit him with enough of it, and he loses it — it’s a double-edged sword. He actually gets more dangerous, but if you’re sharp, you can counter big time after his frenzy.
But, in a twist of fate, during his Madness strikes, he drops these shiny gold crystals. Picking them up cools the Madness meter and heals you a bit. Never seen that mechanic before. Totally fits the chaos vibe, but kind of fun, if you ask me.
Now, Libra’s, how do I put it… both the craziest and the cleverest boss I’ve faced. And yes, there’s more to him. Fires and Holy attacks? He hates those too, so remember that. But without Madness gear, don’t worry. He meditates sometimes, and if you crash his party by breaking his shield — boom, frenzy time.
Overall, Libra’s probably my favorite out of all Nightlords. The chaos, the creativity, the challenge — it just clicks. I’ve fought him a bunch and will keep going, especially now that my friends are in the game.
Elden Ring Nightreign? It’s a bit of a wild ride. It’s a roguelike twist to the classic Soulsborne formula. Sure, it’s not perfect — one map, not enough baddies — but for die-hard fans, it’s a must-play. And hey, you can grab it at a discount if you’re quick. Trust me, it’s worth it.
