Alright, so let’s just dive right into this whole Nintendo thing because, well, it’s kinda buzzing right now. Nintendo says their Switch 2 is getting Drag x Drive on Aug. 14. Yeah, that’s the day Madden NFL 26 drops too. Coincidence? Maybe. Or not. Who knows.
Now, this Drag x Drive, honestly, sounds wild. A wheelchair basketball game using mouse controls? Only Nintendo could think of something so out there, right? And it’s like 20 bucks. Not sure if they’re making it cheap just ’cause or if they’ve got some sneaky plan. Just feels like they’re setting up August to be a big, or maybe not big, release season. Sorta feels like Nintendo’s experimenting with their release timings post-Switch 2 launch.
Oh, let’s not forget August is also bringing Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s Switch 2 Edition. Comes with an expansion called Star-Crossed Land. And the Mouthful Modes? I mean, what even are those? Anyway, that’s for another day’s ramble.
Before August though, catch July with Donkey Kong Bananza. They’ve got this game and then a revamped Super Mario Party Jamboree. Something borrowed, something new – that’s Nintendo’s vibe this summer, I guess.
September though? Looks pretty barren if you ask me, at least from Nintendo. Other game companies are swooping in with stuff like Borderlands 4 and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. So at least there’s that.
Then comes October – Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to make a splash. And it’s a cross-gen thingy for both Switch and Switch 2.
But what about 2025? Glad you brought it up. There’s Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond coming too. No dates yet. Metroid Prime 4 could maybe fill in September’s silence. Honestly, it’d be a good fit, methinks.
More unpredictability for 2025 – Kirby games and others they’ve kept under wraps. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Hades 2, and all that jazz – if that’s your kinda jam, of course. The Zelda brawler thing, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, is planned for winter. Winter when, though? Early 2026, maybe?
Don’t rule out Nintendo bringing back some GameCube classics with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on Switch 2. Think: Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and a bunch of others. Maybe. Feels like they’re gonna just keep surprising folks. They’ve got a knack for that.
