Alright, so here’s the thing about Lyrical Media — now they’re jumping into the gaming world, calling it Lyrical Games. I guess they couldn’t resist the siren call of video games. Anyway, Blake Rochkind, who used to run things over at Private Division, is steering this ship. And speaking of, there are folks from all over; they’ve got ex-Devolver, Humble, and Microsoft people too. You’d think they’re assembling the Avengers of gaming or something.
So, guess what? They’ve already got three games lined up, ready to spring on us. One of ’em’s by Blackbird Interactive, the brains behind Homeworld 3. Feels like dropping a name, doesn’t it? But that’s how they roll, I suppose.
Rochkind’s got this whole philosophy about developers, saying they should control their creations. Makes you wonder if they’ve dunked on publishers in the past. Anyway, they’re offering this big spiel about cutting through the noise — and boy, do they talk it up. They wanna be the publisher that devs actually want, not need. Imagine that.
And here’s the kicker — they’re all about sharing vision, from the game to the audience and how to reach them. Like what even is a “holistic vision”? Feels like corporate-speak but hey, maybe it means something to them.
In the indie world, or as they fancy it, the “triple-i” space — yeah, never heard that before either — they’re saying they’ve got the best deals. They’re not into just signing developers, they want partners. That’s a lot of buzzwords, but there you go.
Oh, and a big selling point: developers get to keep their IP. That’s gold if you ask anyone in the biz. They’re hyping up collaboration and transparency, as if secrecy’s running rampant elsewhere.
I guess time will tell if this new venture’s all talk or something else entirely. So yeah, there you have it.
