Whoa, okay, so there’s this game, Cyberpunk 2077, right? And it’s now on the Switch 2. Mind-blowing, honestly. Like, a game this intense on a Nintendo system? Wasn’t expecting that. I took a stroll through its neon-drenched chaos on this new platform just to see how it handles. Gotta say, pretty impressive. If you haven’t wandered around Night City before, maybe now’s the time. Just my two cents.
Okay, sidetracking for a second—remember when I checked out Cyberpunk on PC back in 2020? Yeah, good times.
So What’s the Deal with Cyberpunk on PC?
Jumping into this game feels like you’re stepping into some wild dystopian theme park, minus the overpriced churros. The city, wow, it’s a maze of lights and decisions. Build your character however you want, take on quests your way. And the stories? They hit all the feels—sometimes all at once. Main quest’s kinda short, though, and figuring out what really changes the ending is, well, confusing. But those side quests? Gold. Except, those bugs can really ruin the vibe. Anyway, kudos for the creativity—high marks in my book. – Tom Marks, December 7, 2020

But, okay, curveball here. The Xbox One and PS4 versions, remember that mess? Yeah, let’s not dwell on that. Switch 2, though? Way better.
Does Switch 2 Make Cyberpunk Look Good?
Quick peek, and bam, Night City’s still stunning. It’s like the streets glow with this neon magic even on a smaller screen. Alright, not PC-perfect but close enough. Unlike the janky Switch 1 version of The Witcher 3. Remember that one? Felt more like squinting at a funhouse mirror.
Frame Rate? Meh, Depends.
Wanna geek out over tech stuff? Here it is. Cyberpunk on Switch 2, doing its thing at 1080p when docked, scales between 1080p and 720p when handheld. Maxes out at 40fps. I’m no frame rate fanatic, but docked, it runs alright. On the performance front, it’s not as smooth as Tears of the Kingdom, but hey, it works. If you’re a 60fps loyalist, maybe sit this one out or stick with your trusty old Switch knowingly. Fair warning.
Switch 2’s Mouse Controls? Surprisingly Not Bad
Here’s a cool bit—the Switch 2 lets you aim like you’re using a mouse with a Joy-Con turned on its side. Sounds awkward, but nope, it’s kinda cool. More headshots than I’d normally land with a regular controller. No, it ain’t a top-tier gaming mouse, but I’m into it. Although…
Joy-Con Mouse: Comfy? Not Exactly
Here’s where it gets quirky. The mouse mode, it works, but my hand? Not so happy. The Joy-Con’s tiny, and after a long session, my hand’s cramping, even with a cool 3D-printed grip shell. Gotta stretch out the fingers. So, the mouse feature rocks technically, but ergonomically? Yikes.
Trying to Get the Hang of Motion Controls… or Not
Honestly, the motion controls? Not all that. Traditional right stick aiming with motion refinement is there, but the assist options? Not worth it. Waving your Joy-Con around like you’re trying to conjure magic feels clunky, and often messes up your view. I’d rather deal with the hand cramps from the mouse technique.
Still One of the RPG Greats
Popping back into Night City’s madness? Totally worth it, especially with all the post-launch fixes. The immersion? Top-notch. Conversations in the game feel like interactive movies. If Cyberpunk 2077 is still on your to-play list, here’s my nudge for you to give it a go on the Switch 2.
