In case nobody told you, The Witcher 3 is, like, ten years old now. And I gotta say, everyone seems to be diving back into their retro gaming collections. I’m definitely guilty of the same – I mean, who isn’t replaying the greats these days? Anyway, if all the anniversary buzz has nudged you towards replaying TW3, there’s this new mod that might just spice up your adventure — especially if you’re eyeing The Witcher Remake.
So, hear me out. You know how sometimes you think, why not flip the script on the whole Witcher skill thing and swap it out for the one from the OG Witcher game? Maybe get a taste of something old yet new. Or just to see if you like it better. Or not. Whatever, I’m getting off track.
Anyway — wait, what was I saying? Oh right, the mod! So, this thing is made by Gerwant30, who snagged second place in some CD Projekt REDkit modding contest with a Cintra exploration thingy. Now they’re on this mission — “Tales of the Witcher” or something. Quite epic, huh? They’ve brought over the first game’s talent system to TW3, saying it’ll give you more control, with 13 talent trees and over 200 skills. Yeah, sounds mind-boggling, right? But kind of irresistible.
Moving on, in the showcase vid, you’ll see yourself earning bronze, silver, and gold talents. At first, it’s all bronzes, then later you get silvers and golds — basically, the usual leveling up fun. Strength and dexterity have their own trees and a bunch more. I mean, there are 4 main trees, right? But then add in 5 Witcher sign trees for even deeper specialization, and several combat trees too! Lost yet? I’m almost there myself.
Here’s what the modder says: your character build rules supreme. It’s all about the skills, talents, and how you prep. Gear stats? Not really the big guns here. Loads there if you geek out on build engineering. Though, fair warning, it’s still a work-in-progress. Modding life, huh?
Side note: Gerwant30 designed this thing to run on a clean, vanilla TW3 game. So, don’t try fiddling with your old saves or the DLCs — it won’t end well. Also, they suggest you install another mod, SkylineR390’s ‘Alchemy’. Guess it’s like a package deal.
Oh, and if you’re diving in, consider PsychoCaki’s ‘SCAAR’ and a camera mod, maybe TheMenxceX and ElementaryLewis’ ‘Immersive Camera for Next Gen’. Yeah, that’s a mouthful.
So, the big question — do you still love the first Witcher’s old-school skills or is TW3’s setup just too ingrained in your brain now? Y’know, like muscle memory? Let me know what crept into your mind while reading this, I’m genuinely curious!
