Nexon, the behind-the-scenes peeps, basically went, “Whoa, this was better than we thought!”
Now, if you’ve been dreaming about new extraction games like I have (and let’s be real, who hasn’t?), you probably know about Arc Raiders and Bungie’s Marathon. I’ve been excited about both, but Destiny kept me hooked for years, so my money was kinda on Marathon. I didn’t expect Arc Raiders to catch on so much, but then, I guess life’s full of surprises.
Seeing the chatter online, there’s a buzz building around Arc Raiders that you just can’t ignore. Marathon had its moments in the alpha, but it hasn’t quite screamed, “You gotta try this!” like I’d hoped. Meanwhile, Nexon’s income report just sang high praises for Arc Raiders. Surprise, surprise! They said it beat all their expectations, especially on Steam wishlists—50% more than what they’d dreamed of!
Arc Raiders managed to land itself in the 12th spot on Steam’s wishlist. Now, call me a numbers nerd, but that’s quite the leap ahead of games people can’t wait for, like Slay the Spire 2. Marathon’s down at 55th, but hey, let’s cut it some slack. Its page is newer, so who knows what the future holds?
Nexon is all about perfecting Arc Raiders based on player feedback, gearing up for a release this year. Marathon’s locked in for a September release, so these two might just be dropping around the same time. Could be kinda wild, right?
I’m rooting for both these games to take on the giants like Escape From Tarkov and Hunt Showdown. Yet, right now, it feels like Arc Raiders is the real contender. Maybe later, we’ll see Exoborne or Sand shake things up too. Marathon might just blow our minds in open beta, but for now, Arc Raiders is king of the hill.
