Um, okay, I’m probably going to ramble a bit, so bear with me. But here’s the scoop. First Light—how’s that for a teaser of a name?—is dropping in 2026. Seriously, we’re talking PCs and the new cool consoles like PS5, Xbox Series X, and, what was it, Nintendo Switch 2? Yeah, that’s the lineup.
Anyway, IO Interactive, those folks behind Hitman (and if you haven’t played it, what are you even doing?), they’re cooking up this origin tale for ol’ James Bond. You know, like when he was still a newbie spy figuring out how not to blow his cover while ordering a martini.
They hit us with this trailer, and honestly, it’s got that vibe, like, “Hey, remember GoldenEye 007? Yeah, we’re aiming for that kind of legendary.” But the real question is—do they hit that mark or just fumble around in the dark? Jury’s still out, but I’ll be keeping an eye on it, for sure.
So, IO Interactive is throwing a big bash on June 6 at 6 pm PT—don’t ask me to do the math on other time zones, I’m bad at that—and they’ll be showing off 007 First Light. And, there’s more coming later in summer, so hold onto your gadgets and gizmos. Fancy spy talk for trailers and sneak peeks, you know?
Now, let’s talk gameplay. If the PlayStation State of Play showed anything, it’s that Bond’s in for some sneaky sneaks and big booms. It’s his “how-to-be-a-spy” era. And not just him, old pals like M, Q, and Moneypenny are back, plus some new faces—I guess to keep things fresh or whatever.
Oh! And about the guy playing Bond. So, rumors—because it’s not a proper game without them, right? Patrick Gibson is the name floating around. The Dexter connection makes sense, though, because he does sorta look the part. But, until they spill the beans, we’re just in guessing mode.
I guess that’s it for now. The summer deep dive promises more juicy details, but geez, they sure know how to keep us hanging on. I’m just saying.
