Okay, so I’ve gotta tell you about this thing that’s coming out soon. IREM Collection Volume 3 — it’s dropping next week! Some collaboration between ININ, Tozai Games, Irem, and Strictly Limited Games… What a mouthful, right? They’re busting out these classics from the arcade days. I’m kinda curious about it, to be honest.
Alright, let’s dig in. So, they’ve got three games packed into this one. Mr. Heli, Mystic Riders, and Dragon Breed — does anyone else remember playing these back in the day?…or am I just ancient? Anyway, this collection is all about some wild horizontal shoot ’em up action. Fantasy, magic, machines — honestly, it sounds like a fever dream, but in a good way.
First up, Mr. Heli. Picture this: a chopper that’s got legs (yes, you read that right). It’s armed to the teeth. I remember seeing this back in 1987 in Japanese arcades — wait, was it ’87? Heck, dates are hard. But yeah, this game lets you do all sorts of stuff — mining crystals, finding paths, massive boss beasts. The nostalgia is real, folks.
And then there’s Mystic Riders. Enchanted brooms and sky turtles? Yup. You heard it. This 1992 gem lets you and a buddy hop on broomsticks and take on flaming demons. Who comes up with this stuff? Mark and Zeal, the wizard and witch duo, are there for some teamwork magic.
Oh, and Dragon Breed. This one’s like if R-Type got mashed into a fantasy world gone sideways. You’re riding on a dragon named Bahamoot (not even kidding), incinerating everything in your way. 1989 was a different time, man. Dragons and bio-mechanical nightmares, what’s not to love?
Now, features! We’ve got some serious upgrades here. Different versions of the games, control tweaks — like rapid-fire options for those trigger-happy moments. Plus save/load options to keep things smooth. They’ve added display filters to give it that old-school vibe. Oh, and there are leaderboards if competing is your jam.
We’re working on getting our hands on this collection over at PS4Blog.net. Stay tuned if you wanna hear my two cents once we’ve played it for a bit. Anyway, now I’m off to probably delve into some other chaotic project. Till later!
