Alright, so it’s a Wednesday while I’m typing this, and guess what? PlayStation’s practically waving at us going, “Hey, check out our shiny new studio!” Like, seriously, the devs have teeth, don’t worry, they’re not up for chomping. Only execs do that, ha! Anyway, this crew’s called teamLFG — like “Looking For Group,” not the other version some might think. They’re cooking up a multiplayer game with a sprinkle of “frog-type game” magic. Whatever that means.
The news dropped on a PS Blog post. Hermen Hulst, Sony’s big honcho in the studio universe, does the dad-showing-off-his-kid routine. He’s all like, “Look at my new baby!” but, you know, with that silent “sink-or-swim” vibe. Corporate vibes, am I right?
So, teamLFG. They’re from Bellevue, Washington. Mixed bag of rookies and old-timers who’ve dabbled with Destiny, Halo, and League of Legends. Kinda spun off from Bungie — no biggie.
They seem pretty jazzed about action-packed, socially savvy games. Whole spiel about friendship and community — it’s like a game, but with hugs. Or something like that. Aligns with PlayStation’s big dream of turning every game into a live-service juggernaut.
Their first game? Uh, they’re calling it an “incubation project” — not the warm kind like chicks but more like a test tube thing. They dropped hints during talks of layoffs at Bungie. Yikes.
Anyway, this “team-based action game” borrows stuff from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and those mysterious frog-type games. Envision a fun world in a wacky science-fantasy universe. They must’ve laughed while crafting this.
Frog-type games? Not like Frogger classics but… what exactly? We’re scratching our heads over here but still intrigued. Imagine if we got a hero shooter that’s got some Tekken, sprinkles of Mario, Dota 2 vibes, maybe some InZOI, and every character looks kinda like that old-school Crazy Frog viral guy. Okay, not really, but a chaotic brain can dream.
Looks like early access playtests are a sure bet, though. TeamLFG’s dropping hints they want player feedback like candy from a piñata.
So, do you reckon PlayStation needs its own Oddball Crazy Frog Fortnite-type mashup? Curious to see what teamLFG’s tossing in their creative cauldron? Sound off below.
