The Pokémon Company International dropped some big news, by the way, about this new thing called the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion. I mean, it’s coming to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Next week. Can you believe it?
So, starting Wednesday, July 30, 2025—yeah, mark that date—folks are gonna see some old favorites from the Johto region pop up. We’re talking Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Oh, and the big guys: Lugia and Ho-Oh. Remember those? Almost takes me back.
This expansion’s apparently got Pokémon that fight without needing Energy. Which is wild! Maybe it changes how we build decks. Or maybe I’m reading too much into it. Who knows.
There’s also some tinkering with the Trade feature in this expansion. Let me try to explain:
1. Wishlist: Now you can show what cards you want when trading. Handy, right? You just head over to My Cards and pop up to 20 cards on there. You can even spotlight three cards on your profile.
2. Trade Changes: They’re ditching trade tokens. Honestly, seemed confusing anyway. But now, you do need shinedust for trading those rare cards, the ♦♦♦ ones and up. You can get it with in-game missions, or duplicate cards. Oh, and you can swap trade tokens for pack hourglasses and shinedust—nice trade-off, I guess? Heads up though, trading cards for tokens stops after the update on July 30 at 01:00 UTC.
Anyway—wait, forgot to mention—you can grab Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket on the App Store for your iPhone or Google Play for Android.
Oh, and there’s this trailer thing they released, but honestly, I got distracted halfway through. It’s on YouTube if you wanna check it out.
