Okay, so here’s the deal. The Nintendo Switch 2—yeah, that little gadget everyone’s chatting about—has this Nvidia DLSS thing going on. And let me tell you, Nvidia’s DLSS is like the superhero of upscaling. Seriously, it’s like having a Ferrari engine in your old jalopy. But, for whatever reason, not every game dev is jumping on board. Why? Beats me.
Speaking of which, there’s this new Donkey Kong game, Donkey Kong Bananza. And you’d think, “Totally, they must be using DLSS.” Nope. Digital Foundry, those tech wizards, dove into it and found nada. It’s like peeling a banana only to find it’s just a plastic toy banana. Kind of a bummer, honestly.
Oh, quick side note, if you’ve been snagging performance issues in Bananza, you’re not alone. Devs gave a heads up, saying “Hey, expect some bumps.”
Anyway, this game took ages to cook, like a really slow stew. Maybe that’s why DLSS isn’t on the menu. Instead, they’re using AMD’s FidelityFX sprinkles or something with a name that sounds like a new-age band—Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing. Fancy, huh? I guess it smooths things over.
But here’s the kicker—Mario Kart World also skips out on DLSS. I mean, c’mon, you’d think Nintendo’s big titles would flaunt all the shiny new tech. Nah. They didn’t even nail HDR. What gives?
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could be our savior. Maybe. Rumors are swirling that it might flaunt DLSS. But, who knows, right? Nothing’s set in stone.
So, if you’re lurking around for the latest, be sure to follow Tom’s Hardware on Google News. They’ve got the scoop and maybe a few surprises up their sleeves. Just a thought.
