Y’know, something that always strikes me as kinda odd is how every week, like clockwork, Sony’s rolling out this fresh batch of digital goodies for folks with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, whatever else they’ve got up their sleeve. New games, add-ons, stuff that makes gamers jump up and down like it’s Christmas morning. And here’s me, just trying to keep track of it all; it’s like a bizarre ritual I can’t help but follow—kind of like watching birds migrate, but for game updates.
Anyway, where was I? Oh right, this week’s global PlayStation Store update. Now, don’t come running to me every Tuesday expecting something different; it’s always the same song and dance. PlayStation LifeStyle does a good job of listing out updates by region. They make it sound so neat and tidy, but honestly? It’s a mishmash of gaming treasures and random knick-knacks. Not complaining though.
North American Update
July, man. Is it just me, or does this month hit different? Probably because of the PlayStation Plus Essential Lineup — gosh, gotta love these names — it sounds important, doesn’t it? This time, they’re throwing in Diablo IV Standard Edition (yep, both PS4 and PS5, thank you very much), Jusant on PS5, and The King of Fighter XV for both consoles. Fancy stuff.
Now, speaking of games for PS4 and PS5, here’s a smorgasbord for ya:
-
Airplane Flight Simulator: Combat Zone — imagine the sound of whirring blades and maybe the smell of burnt rubber?
-
The Alpha Wolf — not a clue what that’s about. Werewolves, leaders of the pack, or a metaphor for life?
-
AquaDream — Makes me think of floating, maybe bubbles popping? Sounds oddly serene yet trippy.
-
Arcade Archives STINGER — Hoots of old-school arcade fun, maybe?
-
Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced — Just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
- Battle Pixel — No clue why, but I’m picturing 8-bit battles clashing like cymbals.
Anyway, you get the drift. I’m talking Bedrotting, Best Served Cold, Bioweaver… man, you gotta love the creativity here. BREAKING BRICKS? Buddy Garden? I mean, seriously — who comes up with these titles?
And then, there’s this conveyor belt of games I have no idea about: Candivity, CarGo!, CarX Street, Close For The Night, and on and on. Each title is like a little mystery begging to be unraveled—perhaps in the dark room vibe of Oxide Room 208 or the quirky chaos of Ed & Edda: GRAND PRIX – Racing Champions. Honestly feels like peering into the most eclectic garage sale ever.
Let’s not forget about those weird outliers like Lawn Mower Racing or Pro Wrestler Story. What even? And The Jumping Food Delivery — sounds like someone was really hungover when they pitched that one.
I could go on, but really, it’s just a list until you boot it up and dive in. Is it chaotic? Absolutely. But isn’t life a bit of a jumble too? And I guess that’s exactly what makes it all so darn interesting. But that’s just me rambling — or wait, no — it’s all about the games, right?
