Oh man, so listen to this — Rebel Wolves, that Polish game studio (you know, the one everyone keeps comparing to CD Projekt Red for some reason?), just dumped a bunch of gameplay from their new vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. It’s like 20 minutes long, maybe more — I kinda zoned out around minute 10 because, well, you know how these things go.
Anyway, these guys first teased this game back in January 2025. Yeah, they took their sweet time letting us know they were cooking something up. And now they’re aiming to drop it in 2026 on PS5, PC, all that jazz. People are talking about it like it’s The Witcher but with more bite — sorry, I had to.
Fast forward to just this last summer soiree they held — they finally go, “Here’s a quest from the game!” So, the main dude, Coen, ends up rummaging through some creepy old cathedral. Typical, right? He’s on the hunt for this hidden weapon. Though seriously, why is it always a cathedral?
The combat stuff? It’s got all these skills and parries, plus some wild moves that chew up your health. They call one move the Burning Blood — sounds gnarly, right? But also, you pause time to pick skills, just like Dragon Age.
Now, get this, the whole time setup is weirdly cool. Instead of the usual race-against-the-clock anxiety, you get to kinda choose how to use your time. Like, do quests, wander a bit, whatever. I mean, your “family needs saving,” but no pressure, right?
Oh, and Coen’s a vampire — didn’t I mention that? When night hits, this guy gets vampy powers and he’s all over the place, like Spiderman but with fangs. His health is a hunger meter though, so you’re doing this whole “do I drink his blood?” dilemma. Feed too much or too little and, well… everything could go haywire.
So, that’s your rundown. Seems like the kind of game you dive into, get lost for hours, and maybe come out questioning your life choices. But we’ll see if it lives up to the hype when it finally drops.
