Tencent Unveils 11-Inch Handheld with Lunar Lake Tech: Features Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, 2.5K 120Hz Display, 32GB RAM, and 1TB Storage

If you’ve been less than thrilled with the small screens on most handheld devices, you’re in for a treat. Tencent is shaking up the scene with a brand new device for handheld gaming fans. According to Videocardz, Tencent has unveiled the Sunday Dragon 3D One, a device that’s blurring the lines between a handheld and a portable console. Powered by an Intel Lunar Lake CPU, this handheld features an impressive 11-inch display, promising an immersive gaming experience—assuming you can manage its hefty size.

The tech specs of the Sunday Dragon 3D One are nothing short of remarkable. Inside, you’ll find the Core Ultra 7 258V, which comes equipped with four P-Cores (Lion Cove), four E-Cores (Skymont), and an Arc 140V iGPU featuring eight Xe2 cores. From what we’ve seen in our testing, Intel’s newest Lunar Lake processors are now neck and neck with AMD’s Strix Point, or Ryzen AI 300 APUs, for gaming performance. Memory-wise, the device packs a solid 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM. It should be ample for modern use, although it’s worth noting that this RAM can’t be upgraded because it’s soldered onto the CPU die. As for storage, there’s a “high-speed” 1TB SSD, and it looks like you might be able to upgrade it if higher capacity or speed is your thing.

One exciting aspect to note is that the Sunday Dragon 3D One might just beat other devices to market as the first to feature Lunar Lake technology—with a caveat. It’s still in prototype stages and may hit the shelves ahead of MSI’s Claw 8 AI+, which is set for an early 2025 launch. This portable console flaunts a huge 11-inch 2560×1440 display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. With these specs, you could almost use it as a mini-laptop. As for competitors like GPD’s Pocket 4 mini-laptops, they max out at a display size of 8.8 inches. Tencent, meanwhile, is taking a bold step by including real-time eye-tracking technology for a glasses-free 3D experience. They’ve even optimized games like Path of Exile, Blade & Soul, and Arena Breakout: Infinite to make the most out of this tech.

The handheld comes with built-in controllers featuring Hall Effect joysticks, linear triggers, and two buttons you can customize on the back. If you’re not digging those, no worries—you can swap them for third-party controllers as long as they’re compatible with this unique-size device. Plus, it supports 100W fast charging, though details about battery size are still under wraps.

There’s no doubt about it, the 3D One has a unique design philosophy. When you think of handhelds, ergonomic design and hours of comfortable gameplay come to mind. However, smaller screens don’t always do justice to the graphics and depth offered by modern games. Although the 3D One is still a prototype, there’s a high chance of it being quite limited—be it due to geographic constraints or its niche market appeal.
