So, here I am, diving into this whole Pokemon TCG thing again – those shiny pieces of cardboard just keep pulling me back. Seriously, why do they keep doing this to me? Anyway, the Eevee Grove set’s been floating around for a couple weeks. Folks, if you’re like me and somehow missing key cards for that deck you’re obsessed with, it’s probably not the worst idea to squirrel away those Hourglasses. Rumor’s flying about another expansion at the end of July, but I have no flipping clue what it’ll focus on. Gen 2, Gen 3? Who knows. They’ve been kinda MIA, right? But, hey, can we all just wish for some solid Fighting cards? The game’s been dry on those since Triumphant Light – it’s irritating.
Now, don’t get me wrong, Fighting decks are decent, they’re just stuck in a rut. You’ve got two main decks in competitive play right now, and they’re basically just recycling cards from Space-Time Smackdown and Triumphant Light. Everything after has been kind of “meh.” I mean, Lucario Ex tried, bless its heart, but really, the spotlight’s been on Passimian Ex and Lycanroc Ex and that’s about it. Right now, Rampardos and Garchomp Ex are the kings of the hill in Pokemon TCG’s Fighting realm.
Okay, hold up – side tangent: Isn’t it a bit sad that Rampardos still tops the charts? Introduced back in Space-Time Smackdown, January 2025 or so. Half a year in and still smashing it. It’s got 150 HP on a non-Ex card, who even does that? With just one Fighting Energy, it hits like a truck for 130 damage! Sure, there’s that little recoil thing, but fifty damage? Eh, worth it in my book.
And let’s talk strategy for a sec. Getting Rampardos on the field by turn two is insane, thanks to that Rare Candy from Celestial Guardians. Rampardos and Silvally combo is basically a classic. Even though it came out with Extradimensional Crisis, it’s not losing steam any time soon. You know, there’s that “half-Fighting” deck since Silvally’s technically Normal-type. But whatever, it works, right?
Whether you’re a fan or not, opening boosters from Space-Time Smackdown just for Rampardos feels like opening treasure chests, yeah? But we need something fresh. The next set better bring some heat if Fighting wants to stand out again.
Oh, oh! And before I totally lose track – Garchomp Ex from Triumphant Light is still doing its thing. Oldie but a goodie, right? 170 HP and solid attacks. Linear Attack, Dragon Claw, the whole shebang. Mix it with Rampardos and you’ve got yourself a top-tier deck. Plus, throw in some Supporters like Lillie and Cyrus, and you’re golden. I mean, who doesn’t love healing 60 damage and yanking a bench warmer into the main stage for a KO?
Anyway, enough rambling for now – until next time, keep shuffling those cards!
