Alright, so here’s the thing. Activision, right? They kinda just… left us hanging with Black Ops 7, this year’s Call of Duty. Seriously, they tossed us a teaser during the Xbox Showcase back in June and then poof, disappeared. One moment they were there, the next, it was like, “Hello? Anybody home?” Not cool, Activision. Not cool.
They vaguely promised more juicy details would drop over the summer, but, um, excuse me, summer’s ticking by and I’ve seen nothing. It’s mid-July, and I’m still waiting. Like, did I miss something? Nope, nothing yet. My calendar’s just been staring back at me, judging me for the anticipation.
Anyway, Activision finally broke the silence, kinda like a late but welcome invitation to a party you thought was canceled. August. Yep, they said be ready in August. Apparently, the grand re-reveal (is that even a thing?) will happen during the gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19. Mark those calendars, folks. It’ll be, what, 11am PT for you west coasters, and 2pm ET for eastern folks, and like 7pm if you’re hanging out in the UK.
Honestly, it’s unusual because these Call of Duty games are like, mega-huge, right? Like, shouldn’t there be some grand standalone event just for them? Where’s the fanfare? Why tuck it into another event? Maybe they’re trying to keep us on our toes. Or maybe they’re just lazy. Who really knows?
And August 19? It’s all a bit mysterious. What are we even gonna see? A snippet or a full-blown presentation? Maybe they’ll drop another event altogether—late August, early September—right before the beta. Fingers crossed, right? These game developers have to share some more secrets, especially since they’re revisiting that near-future vibe and co-op campaigns. People are buzzing about potential links to Black Ops 6. Expect news soon. Or that’s the hope, anyway.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about when you can finally play this thing—November’s the word on the street. So gear up your PCs, PS4s, PS5s, Xbox Ones, and Xbox Series X/S. The countdown is on!
